Allana Bykes

Meet Allana Bykes, Neurodiversity Family Coach

Coming from a long background in client services, sales and food service, I have a very “traditional” ADHD resume of changing jobs/careers every 18-24 months. Always trying to do it all, I hit burnout at 38 and had to redesign every aspect of my life to survive. I have spent the last 4 years immersed in the Neurodiversity and Menopause worlds with my work at Candor Diversity Group, including becoming a trained Neurodiversity Informed ICF Coach. During this process, and having (mostly) successfully acknowledged and navigated my own needs, I have now dedicated my career to pulling together all the separate shards of knowledge on these topics that every woman needs to know, and presenting them without the bullshit.

Allana’s Personal Journey with Neurodiversity

Allana’s experience with neurodiversity has profoundly shaped her professional path and mission to support others. Allana’s personal journey fuels her dedication to coaching adults and supporting the networks around neurodiverse individuals. Her insights, gained through lived experiences and professional training, enable her to provide empathetic guidance, and practical strategies to her clients.

Diagnosed with Dyslexia in 1998

This early diagnosis sparked Allana’s awareness of neurodiversity and its impact on her life.

Diagnosed with ADHD in 2016, Partner Diagnosed with ASD in 2019

These diagnoses marked pivotal moments in Allana’s personal and relational growth, prompting extensive exploration and understanding of neurodiversity dynamics.

Navigating Challenges in Work Environments

From her experiences in the bustling environments of pools and restaurants, Allana faced significant challenges related to her neurodivergent traits. Despite her valuable “superpowers” such as hyperfocus and problem-solving abilities, she encountered a lack of understanding and accommodation from employers.

Experience with Burnout and Mental Health

In 2022, Allana reached a critical point of burnout, prompting deep reflection and a commitment to prioritizing mental health. This period catalyzed her passion for advocating and supporting others facing similar challenges.

Formation of Candor Diversity Group

In 2024, alongside her partner, Allana founded Candor Diversity Group with the mission to empower and educate individuals and organizations about neurodiversity. Their goal is to foster inclusive environments where neurodivergent individuals can thrive.
